Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us, in plain English.
The short version
Buy the game, play it, enjoy it. Don't copy it, sell it or pull it apart. It is still being made, so it will change. Your saves live on your headset and we cannot recover them. And if something goes wrong, you keep every right the law gives you — nothing here takes those away.
Who we are
Buried Worlds VR is made by Bellare Studios, in Melbourne, Australia. These terms cover this website and the Buried Worlds VR game. By using either, you are agreeing to them.
Buying and playing the game
Buried Worlds VR is distributed through the Meta Horizon Store. Buying it is a transaction between you and Meta, under Meta's terms — payment, your account, and refunds are all handled by Meta rather than by us. If you want a refund, Meta is who to ask.
What you get is a personal licence to play the game on your own headset for as long as that store licence lasts. You are not buying the game itself, and the licence cannot be passed to someone else.
A game still being dug out
Buried Worlds VR is in active development, and some builds are released for testing. Expect it to change. Destinations may be added, reworked, or held back while they are finished; rewards and prices will be rebalanced; test builds may contain faults. We do not promise that any particular feature will exist, keep behaving the same way, or arrive on a particular date.
If you are playing from a test channel, please treat what you find there as unfinished work.
Your saves
Your progress is stored on your headset and nowhere else. We hold no copy of it and have no way to restore it. Uninstalling the game, resetting the headset or a failed device will lose it. If a change to the game ever means older saves cannot be read, we will say so before it ships.
Fair use
Please do not:
- copy, share, sell or redistribute the game or its files
- reverse engineer it, or work around the store's licence check
- modify it to cheat, or pass off a modified build as ours
- use our name, artwork or logo to imply we endorse something we do not
Recording, streaming and making videos of your own play is welcome, including monetised ones. You do not need to ask us.
What belongs to whom
The game — its code, artwork, music, name and logo — belongs to us. The real places and histories it draws on, from gold rushes to Roman hoards, are facts of the world and belong to nobody.
Anything you post in our Discord or on Reddit lives under those platforms' terms. What you make stays yours; just do not post things you have no right to share.
Guarantees, and their limits
We build the game as carefully as we can, but we cannot promise it will be free of faults or run perfectly on every device. Except where the law says otherwise, we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost time, lost data, or losses that could not reasonably have been foreseen.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or guarantee you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under any other law that cannot be excluded. Where such a guarantee applies and we fail to meet it, you have the remedies that law provides, whatever else this page says.
This website
The site exists to tell you about the game and point you to our community. It asks nothing of you and stores nothing about you — see the privacy policy. It links out to other services, and what happens on those is between you and them.
Changes
We will update these terms as the game grows, and change the date at the top when we do. If something significant changes, we will say so in the community rather than hoping you notice.
Getting in touch
Questions about any of this are best asked on our Discord. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
